If you've been blessed enough to go on a snowboard cat trip before, you'll immediately notice one thing – the overwhelming majority of cat trip guests are men. Burton Snowboards, the Outdoor Industry Women's Coalition (OIWC) and Baldface Lodge thought it was time to get women together from the winter sports industry for a ladies-only cat trip. So they created the Purr-fect Powder Giveaway trip, where winners receive an all-expense paid cat trip to Baldface Lodge in British Columbia to join Burton pro rider Victoria Jealouse for three epic days of backcountry riding.
Three lucky women who attended the SIA trade show this past January and one fortunate female Burton employee won the giveaway and will head to Baldface the weekend of March 19-21. Besides winning a great weekend of riding, the women will also receive complimentary jackets and gloves from Gore-Tex® Outerwear.
The goal of the trip is to bring women from the industry together to share ideas, fun and of course, heavenly snowboarding. Victoria Jealouse, the reigning queen of backcountry freestyle riding, is excited about the opportunity to join the trip and spend time with the contest winners.
“Riding with other girls has always had a cool vibe for me,” says Victoria. “I find that we (girls) are far more supportive of each other than we might think when we're out there on the mountain because we all have things in common when it comes to snowboarding. It'll be great to experience and share such a beautiful place and ride powder with the girls!”
