Burley Design, best known for its bicycle and jogging trailers, plans to promote Allison Coughlin to president, effective August 31, 2016. Coughlin brings over three years of in-house experience, most recently as Burley’s sales and marketing manager.
During her time working for the family business, Coughlin has embraced the intensive training offered by her father and Burley CEO Mike Coughlin. Retiring out of daily operations at the close of this year, Mike Coughlin has acknowledged his daughter’s commitment to the company by transitioning these duties to her.
“I didn’t buy Burley in 2006 so that one of my children could eventually run it,” said Mike Coughlin. “But Allison’s ‘go-getter’ mentality, passion for the business and eagerness to learn has convinced me otherwise. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this position, and it makes it even sweeter that I get to be a proud dad as well.”
Before taking her first sales position at Burley, Allison Coughlin earned a finance degree from the University of Denver, then worked as events director at local nonprofit Relief Nursery.
“When I landed at Burley after working for a few years out of school, I knew the most efficient way to learn the business was to shadow my dad. His passion for Burley is contagious and I can’t wait to spread it even more,” said Allison Coughlin. “We have a great team here at Burley; I’m honored and excited to step into this new role.”
Mike Coughlin will remain CEO and owner of Burley. Burley will begin its search for a new sales manager immediately.
