Burghardt Sporting Goods announced it does not plan to renew the store lease of its Fox Point location, which expires at the end of June.
The Milwaukee-based team dealer and sports retailer said the decision will allow the company to focus on its “thriving” New Berlin location, a larger and more interactive space.
Burghardt Sporting Goods operates both stores.
“We’re building on the success we’ve seen in New Berlin,” stated Brian Burghardt. “It’s proven to be the stronger location, offering more space, capabilities and opportunities to create a memorable experience for our customers.”
At 80,000 square feet, the New Berlin store will serve as Burghardt’s headquarters. It features HitTrax batting cages, a rentable turf field and a multi-purpose event space.
Burghardt’s also said it’s expanding its delivery and shipping services, increasing access to uniform fit kits and other customer-focused enhancements.
“Over the years, Fox Point has been an amazing asset to us. It has helped us expand our customer reach, and we’re grateful for the relationships we’ve built there,” said Carl Burghardt. “We’re excited to welcome our North Shore customers to New Berlin — it’s worth the visit.”
The retailer also announced that sixth-generation family member, Maggie Burghardt, daughter of owner Brian Burghardt, has joined the company as a sales and marketing associate following a tenure as a senior IT auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She will focus on growing Burghardt’s branded apparel and promotional product offerings for businesses.
“We’re known as the place to go for team jerseys, uniforms and school spirit wear, but many are surprised to learn that we also serve corporate clients. We’re ready to grow that part of our business in a big way,” said Maggie Burghardt.
