Buff, Inc., the maker of headwear for snowsports, announced its sponsorship of professional skier and accomplished ski mountaineer Kim Havell. The company will be providing Havell with 25 custom Hot Lips Original Buff.
Based in Telluride, Colorado, Kim Havell (a.k.a. “Hot Lips”) began her career as an alpine ski coach. From there, she gradually made the transition to climbing and ski mountaineering, and has since been a guest instructor for the San Juan Outdoor School, and Babes in the Backcountry, tail-guided for H2O Heli Guides, and been a eleven year member of the San Miguel County Search and Rescue Team, with medical and rescue certifications. Over the years, she has ventured to over 50 countries, taking on some of the highest peaks in the Himalayas, Pakistan, and Argentina. Some of Havell’s most epic adventures include skiing from the summit of Denali in 2009 and catskiing a volcano outside of Kamchatka, Russia for Skiing magazine in 2004.
“Kim Havell is an accomplished skier and outdoor enthusiast who lives and works in the mountains. She is a perfect fit with the Buff brand,” said Shirley Choi Brunetti, general manager and vice president, United States.
“For any adventure, from skiing and ski touring, mountaineering, running, climbing, and more, I always bring a Buff,” said Havell. “It is one of the most versatile, fun and multifaceted products I use, and I would be lost without it. It comes in handy for any journey, whether in your backyard or in the far reaches of the Himalaya, as protection in dust storms, intense solar radiation, gusting winds, biting cold, and even for medical
emergencies or other of mother nature’s best. As versatile as duct tape, but far more stylish, this is a piece that I carry with me at all times.”
