Brooks Running welcomed Amanda Mergaert and Megan Malasarte to the Brooks Beasts Track Club, the middle distance track team based in Seattle.

Mergaert provides 1500-meter run expertise at the elite level with versatility in the longer distances while Malasarte bringing 800-meter speed and power from the University of Georgia.

Megan provides incredible poise and a collaborative mindset to the team, and Amanda brings a quiet ferocity and a lot of enthusiasm. They want to be here and are fired up, said Brooks Beasts Head Coach Danny Mackey. Im thrilled to have them both on the team to help us continue competing at an elite level while inspiring people of all levels to lace up and run.

The Beasts capped off their 2014 summer season this past weekend with Garrett Heath running a PR at the 5th Avenue Mile, placing second overall in a time 3 minutes, 51 seconds, and Katie Mackey finishing eighth in the 5K and second for the Americas team at the IAAF Continental Cup.

The Brooks Beasts pick up base training this fall, entering their second full year as a team. Creating and supporting the Beasts team is one of many ways Brooks commits to the run and helps to inspire others to participate in the sport.
