Bridgedale has partnered with the Breast Cancer Fund to donate 10 percent of the net wholesale amount from their newest women's performance sock, the X-Hale to the organization for one year beginning January 1, 2006.

The Breast Cancer Fund focuses on preventing breast cancer by eliminating the disease's environmental causes. The Women's X-Hale, designed in conjunction with local athletes and retailers across North America, is an ultra lightweight multi-sport sock knit with performance features and super thin mesh designed to keep feet cool during hot/humid conditions. For over 100 years Bridgedale has knit socks using a proprietary WoolFusion process twisting high quality wool yarns around wicking synthetic fibers producing high performance hosiery. Bridgedale will kickoff the partnership at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City August 11-14th.

“At Garmont/Bridgedale, our mission is to deliver exceptional products that make a difference in the lives of our customers. The Women's X-Hales sock is the world's first women's specific high-ventilation outdoor/sports sock, something long overdue in the market. Combining the launch of this sock with a 10% contribution to the Breast Cancer Fund provides a conduit for our company and consumers to help prevent breast cancer for future generations,” said John Schweitzer, President of Garmont North America, distributor of Bridgedale socks in the United States and Canada.

The Women's X-Hale retails for $14.95, and packaging will feature the Breast Cancer Fund logo and embroidered pink ribbon. Bridgedale's donation of 10 percent of the net wholesale proceeds averages to a donation minimum of $.66 per sock.

“Developing the Women's X-Hale was an incredible team effort. Women from around the country teamed up challenging us for rich color, radical padding shapes to match their feet, and an anatomic fit. The Women's X-Hale is by far the most advanced sock we've created and is unparalleled in the marketplace. We are so confident these are the most comfortable AND durable socks, we back our socks with the industry's best comfort guarantee: 3 years!” said Christopher Lussier, North American Brand Manager.

The Breast Cancer Fund is a national nonprofit organization founded in 1992 in response to the epidemic of breast cancer, rates of which have more than doubled since the 1960s. Scientific evidence suggests that environmental exposures, including ionizing radiation and chemicals found in cosmetics, pesticides, cleaning products, fuels and plastics, may trigger the development of the disease. The Breast Cancer Fund focuses on preventing breast cancer by eliminating the disease's environmental causes through policy initiatives, consumer advocacy campaigns, public education and other outreach activities. Mountain climbs and other outdoor challenges help fund these initiatives and provide an important source of inspiration and physical challenge for breast cancer survivors and supporters.
