Bob’s Stores plans to open a “flagship” store in Norwalk, CT, that will also carry merchandise from sister retailer Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) within the next few months. It also reported it plans to open two other Connecticut stores in Hamden and Southington.
The new 27,000-square-foot store in Norwalk will occupy a former Bed Bath & Beyond at the mixed-use center at 542 Westport Avenue. The store will replace Bob’s Stores’ current location in Norwalk at 380 Main Avenue.
“The new Norwalk location will open as a flagship store that unites Bob’s and Eastern Mountain Sports under one roof,” said Kevin Campbell, executive vice president of operations for Bob’s Stores and Eastern Mountain Sports, which are owned by the same company, to CTInsider. “This enables us to offer customers the wide selection of Bob’s products along with the high-quality, affordable outdoor gear and expertise that Eastern Mountain Sports is known for.”
Frasers Group, the U.K.-based parent of Sports Direct, sold Bob’s and EMS to GoDigital Media Group for $70 million in cash in May 2022.
Bob’s operates 24 stores while EMS has 25. Both retailers are located across the Northeast.
