Big Rock Sports LLC held a silent auction on Jan. 12–15 at the Big Rock Sports East Dealer Show in Raleigh, NC that generated $10,000 in support of youth shooting sports. The auction was made possible with donations from several vendors in the shooting sports industry. All proceeds from the event will go to the Youth Shooting Sports Alliance, a non-profit organization that helps facilitate firearms training for youths through qualifying organizations, such as Boy Scouts of America, 4-H units at the state and county levels, JROTC units and Royal Rangers.

“We are thrilled with our partnership with Big Rock Sports,” says Steve Miller, Executive Director, Youth Shooting Sports Alliance. “It is a pleasure working with a company that shares our passion about recruiting and retaining youth in the shooting sports.”

The Youth Shooting Sports Alliance (YSSA) provides leadership, guidance and funding support which coordinates shooting sports advocates and existing programs to encourage the safe, responsible and positive exposure to youth and families in order to retain and grow their involvement in all shooting sports.

“Big Rock Sports has been a long-time supporter of YSSA,” says Gary Zurn, Senior Vice President Marketing at Big Rock Sports. “Hunting and shooting are a passion for us at Big Rock Sports and we want to help strengthen the industry and guide future generations into these sports.”
Big Rock Sports financially supports associations that protect dealers who sell firearms. The company also ensures that government authorities who oversee fishing and shooting sports industry regulations are kept up to date with the latest, most accurate scientific studies.

Just days before the Raleigh auction, Big Rock Sports took part in a duck hunt for the Wounded Warrior Project. This was the second year that the company had supported the hunt in Engelhard, NC by donating waders, hats, gloves and other gear, plus all the ammunition used at the hunt.

“As a sporting goods company, we had the wherewithal to provide some gear for these guys. It’s not an inexpensive sport to get started in and through a donation of some product that we have available through our vast network, we were able to give these men some great items that they can use again and again,” says Wayne Decker, Senior Vice President of Operations at Big Rock Sports. “Having served in the Marine Corp. for eight years, I certainly have a personal interest in helping these returning warriors to get access to these opportunities This is a sport and an industry that we have to help continue to grow.”
