Big City Mountaineers (BCM), the non-profit that instills critical life skills in under-resourced urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions, has moved from its longtime headquarters in downtown Denver to the American Mountaineering Center just outside of Denver in Golden, CO.
With plans to double the number of youth the organization impacts through its transformative wilderness mentoring experiences this summer, the new location will provide BCM with the facilities to support, manage and execute more programs than ever before, including single-day programs delivered on the in-house climbing wall. At the American Mountaineering Center, BCM joins other worthy non-profits dedicated to enriching lives through outdoor adventure including the Colorado Mountain Club and the American Alpine Club, allowing BCM to work alongside these neighbors to collaborate on programs, share resources, and increase its presence within the outdoor community.

Founded in 1989, Big City Mountaineers is a non-profit organization that changes the lives of under-served urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills. BCM partners with a vibrant network of youth-based agencies to provide youth the opportunity to experience the beauty and challenges of the wilderness alongside supportive adult role models. BCM programs improve self-esteem, integrity, responsibility, decision-making abilities and communication skills of more than 1,000 youth annually.
