Bergans USA officially opened its e-commerce site April 18 with Shopatron functionality that allows specialty retailers to connect with and directly fulfill consumer orders.


The Shopatron e-commerce concept is unique in that existing dealers fulfill orders placed through the Bergans USA Website. This process helps supports regional retail and provides consumers access to products not readily available in their area.

“Our primary reason for choosing to partner with Shopatron was to give our customers greater access to our product catalog and to continue to grow brand awareness among active outdoor sports participants,” explains Keith Patterson, Bergans USA's vice-president of sales and marketing. “Shopatron also allows us to not only support our retailers by not competing directly with them, but also gives them an additional tool to sell Bergans products.”


Bergans of Norway offers a broad range of backpacks, tents, foldable canoes, and technical and fashionably functional outdoor and ski clothing. Since its founding in 1908, the company has outfitted some of the world's most famous expeditions, including Roald Amundsen conquest of the South Pole and Sir Edmund Hillary's summiting of Mt. Everest. More recently, Bergans-sponsored athlete Cecilie Skog became the only person in the world to climb the The Seven Summits and arrive at The Three Poles.
