Construction of the new Bell Canoe Works facility is scheduled to begin in October 2003. The new plant will incorporate all composite and Royalex® manufacturing, boat and accessory warehousing, shipping, and administrative functions. The facility is expected to be ready for move-in by mid December.
Completion of the new Bell plant, to be located 10 miles north in Princeton MN, will triple available square footage. This is big news for the “garage shop” that has endured cramped offices, competing manufacturing space, and limited storage capabilities since the company was founded over 15 years ago. Bell Canoe is a very resourceful company, effective at accomplishing a lot with a little. Construction of a new plant will help physical growth match recent sales growth.
“This expansion will allow us to fully develop our rapidly growing role in the paddlesports industry,” observed Ted Bell. Steps to increase market presence over the past several years have included the addition of a premium accessory line and expanded touring and whitewater product offerings.
Bell Canoe Works is poised for a strong year in 2004. “When you have a strong line the next step is to produce and deliver the goods when promised,” stated National Sales Manager, Craig Johnson, “And our new plant will help us do just that.”
The mood around Bell is one of excitement. Staff and management recognize the positive opportunities available with the big move ahead. Expect further updates over the next couple of months.
