Nike has been fined 4.87 million yuan ($779,700) for deceptive advertising in China, according to the Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce recently. According to Want China Times, a model of Nike basketball shoes that sell for 1,299 yuan ($208) – the
same price as in other markets – did not have two cushions as advertised
and as sold elsewhere. China was found to be the only market in which
the model has only a single cushion.

As soon as Nike was accused of the double-standard it confirmed that the version sold in China has a single cushion and offered to give refunds to those unhappy with the purchase.

Regardless, the Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce issued the fine. This was reportedly the first time Nike was fined for having a double standard for the Chinese market.
