Bauer Hockey, Inc. added top-ranked draft prospect Aaron Ekblad to its roster of athletes.  Ekblad, who is a front-runner for the top pick at this week’s National Hockey League (NHL) Draft, joins an elite group of athletes who exclusively wear Bauer equipment, including Alex Ovechkin, Patrick Kane, Henrik Lundqvist, Steven Stamkos, Claude Giroux and Jonathan Toews to name just a few.

“As the No. 1 brand in hockey, we’re pleased to welcome Aaron to the Bauer team as he begins his professional career in the NHL,” said Rich Wuerthele, executive vice president of Bauer Hockey.  “The world’s best choose Bauer because they know our team is deeply committed to delivering the performance, innovation and protection they need to compete at the highest levels.  We look forward to our partnership with Aaron during this exciting time in his career.”

Ekblad, a native of Belle River, Ontario, spent the last three seasons playing in the Ontario Hockey League with the Barrie Colts.  As a dynamic, two-way defenseman with the Colts, Ekblad notched 53 points in 58 games and earned a plus-nine rating during the 2013-14 season.

“It is truly an honour to join the Bauer Hockey family, and be alongside the game’s best who choose to wear BAUER,” Ekblad said. “To be partnered with such an iconic brand like BAUER is both exciting and humbling as I move to the next phase of my playing career.”

In addition to exclusively wearing BAUER equipment when he begins play in the NHL, Ekblad will also work closely with the product development team to provide insight and feedback into future product direction.
