BaseMap, Inc. has promoted Matt Habiger to president and CEO, effective immediately. Founder Jeffrey Balch, who has served as president and CEO, will remain involved in the company as a director and chief product officer, focused on long-term business strategy and product development.
Habiger was, most recently, the VP of Data Sciences at BaseMap, Inc., a role he assumed in January 2024. Before, Habiger served as CEO at HuntScore for over three years after a stint as VP of Data Science at Torch.ai.
BaseMap, Inc. acquired HuntScore in a deal that closed in January 2024.
HuntScore, an established industry provider of hunt planning tools and research analytics, and its employees, including Habiger, were integrated into the BaseMap business.
“We are thrilled to bring Matt Habiger and the HuntScore team into the BaseMap family,” said BaseMap CEO Jeff Balch. “The addition of the HuntScore technology allows BaseMap to expand our service offerings more deeply into planning and research; this, coupled with our combined experience and industry knowledge, will provide hunters nationwide with the tools to create optimum outdoor experiences via their mobile devices.”
“I look forward to furthering Jeff’s vision and having his deep domain knowledge focused on evolving our product suite,“ commented Habiger. “The hunting and rugged outdoor recreation market is driven more so today than ever before by demands for digital innovation and analytic platforms which perfectly align with the out-year strategic initiatives for BaseMap.“
Habiger will oversee all company operational functions while focusing on next-gen technologies, advanced analytics, eCommerce, and digital marketing, strengthening the BaseMap brand, enhancing customer engagement and supporting long-term growth.
“Matt’s broad industry background and passion for the outdoors have made a profound impact since he joined the company by way of the HuntScore acquisition a year ago. With an increased focus on digital innovation and enhanced analytics, this seamless leadership transition, supported by Jeff’s continuing board participation, positions the company for its next phase”, said Chris Barrow, lead director at BaseMap, Inc.
Hunters and outdoorsmen use BaseMap’s app, which offers a year-round, single-application approach to land ownership, navigation tools, offline capabilities, and hunt planning and research analytics.
“As the outdoor recreation and enthusiasts industry, with a specific focus on shooting, hunting, and rugged outdoor pursuits, continues to evidence demand for increased digital solutions, BaseMap affords a breadth of product offerings to support this growing market. The company also holds a well-defined product roadmap targeting the creation of new advanced features and requisite analytics, enhanced content and editorial data as sought by its core consumers,“ BaseMap said in a media release.
