Balega, the performance sock brand in the run specialty market, announced its continued support of Breast Cancer Prevention Partners (BCPP) with the release of its limited-edition Grit and Grace collection.

One dollar for every pair of Grit and Grace socks sold will benefit BCPP, which works to prevent breast cancer by eliminating exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation.

This year marks a special story behind Balega’s Grit and Grace as the collection is dedicated to one of Balega’s brand ambassadors, Kim Stemple, who was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Upon her diagnosis, Stemple chose to focus her time and endless energy on making the world a better place. With a new understanding of the power of hope, she founded “We Finish Together” in 2012. A lifelong runner, Stemple organized athletes to send their race medals to people battling sickness and those doing good in the world. Every medal is accompanied by a hand-written note of support and encouragement.

Three of Stemple’s personal inspirational mantras are embroidered into the toe of each brightly colored and uniquely designed Grit and Grace sock for 2017. Those mantras are: Be the Spark; Rewrite the Rules; and Kindness Matters. Stemple is the living embodiment of grit and grace, and her words now make each step an inspiration.

“Kim is ‘Queen Impi’ among our Balega ambassadors, who we affectionately call our Impi Warriors,” explained Tanya Pictor, vice president of marketing at Implus Specialty. “The Impis were an honored class of fighters and protectors known for operating with the utmost integrity. It is this same passionate and relentless spirit in Kim, coupled with her overflowing generosity of spirit, to which we dedicate this year’s limited edition Grit and Grace collection. Kim’s belief in kindness and empathy is not just a philosophy; it’s how she lives her life. And it has become an infectious joy to those of us close to her and to thousands of people around the world who need a boost. She is, indeed, the spark.”

Balega’s Grit and Grace socks will retail for $14 a pair and will be available at your local run specialty store beginning September 15 for a limited time through the month of October.
