The Conservation Alliance and member companies NEMO Equipment, Vibram, ECCO, and Polartec will be working together Tuesday, Sept. 18, on a variety of work projects in Peterborough, N.H., organized by event host Eastern Mountain Sports.
This Backyard Collective service day provides Conservation Alliance member companies’ employees in New England an opportunity to take action in local stewardship projects and to get their hands dirty for the sake of conservation. Volunteers will be working on projects in partnership with a number of organizations, including: the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, New Hampshire State Parks, Harris Center for Conservation Education, Grapevine Family and Community Resource Center, Peterborough Rotary Club and the Monadnock Conservancy.
“We are thrilled to join Eastern Mountain Sports and our member companies in New England for this event in Peterborough,” said John Sterling, executive director of The Conservation Alliance. “It has been an incredibly successful Backyard Collective season, and we so appreciate the time and efforts of all of the volunteers.”
The Backyard Collective will take place September 18, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. Following the volunteer effort, Eastern Mountain Sports will host an after party for all participants, celebrating a day of hard work and the retailer’s 45th anniversary. The event also features a volunteer fair at which Conservation Alliance grantees and local environmental organizations will share information on their current conservation initiatives.

The eighth and final Backyard Collective will be held in Bend, Ore. This event had to be rescheduled due to wildfires.
