Backcountry.com, which has pioneered online retailing in the specialty outdoor space, launched a new feature Thursday that allows registered users on its site to follow what  – and who – they want.

With a quick click of the “+” or “follow” tabs, a community member can follow a specific community member’s contributions – photos, videos, product reviews, Q&A’s, and comments – in the activity feed and interact through this new feature in a simpler, more customized way. Users can also follow a product page to monitor product reviews.

“The launch of this new community feature allows for a much richer experience,” said Adrian Montgomery, Director of Brand Marketing at backcountry.com. “Like-minded outdoor enthusiasts can form one-on-one connections and continue to be inspired Offering top-of-the-line gear is a given, but guiding our customers’ experience within an integrated community enables everyone to engage on a more personal level.”

To ensure a steady stream of quality content, Backcountry.com editors target ‘best of community’ posts and populate the ‘most popular’ feed with handpicked contributions.

“Scroll through Explore as experts share their latest backcountry epics or tried-and-true training techniques for the upcoming ski season, or check out product pages to get all the beta on the right gear for you,” the company advised in its press release. “This is your chance to engage more deeply with a community of pro athletes, gear experts, and hundreds of outdoor enthusiasts to share experiences, learn, and get inspired.”
