Visitor attendance rose 12% at the 15th annual OutDoor in Friedrichshafen show. A total of 18,900 trade visitors (2007: 16,900 trade visitors) used the international trade show on the shores of Lake Constance in Germany as an industry and business meeting place.

“We are the leading European trade show in the area of nature sports, and well on our way to becoming the key worldwide event as well,” said Messe Friedrichshafen CEO Klaus Wellmann as he summed up the results of OutDoor 2008.

The event set records again by drawing 787 organizatoins from 40 countries. Exhibitions space totaled 75,000 square meters.

“It was very clear at the show that the entire nature sports movement has gained considerable momentum in recent years,” says Stefan Reisinger, OutDoor Project Manager. “Exhibitors reported positive sales talks with a highly international and professional audience.”

The top 100 brands exhibited and more than 150 new products debuted at the show, which was covered by 841 journalists from newspapers, trade publications, TV networks and radio stations from 26 countries.

The trade visitor survey conducted by an independent research institute underscores the international character of the OutDoor: 60% of all trade visitors travelled from abroad to Friedrichshafen, up from 54% the previous year. Nearly all respondents (92%) indicated that they would attend the next OutDoor, which takes place July 16-19 2009 in Friedrichshafen.
