Asics never stops pushing to create the best long-distance running shoe possible. And in early November 2015, Asics and the Asics Institute of Sports Science (ISS) took another step in that direction, introducing the MetaRun.

The performance-driven MetaRun was created to contour to wearers individual running style. Built using the latest Asics technology, the company claims they finally hit the head on a shoe that is responsive to the ride. “Experience it to believe it,” Asics said.

This is how they did it…

Creating plush without weight, a midsole foam called FlyteFoam (created in the Asics ISS) is roughly 55 percent lighter than industry standard material. Its organic fibres bounce the MetaRun shoe back to its original shape during the milliseconds between stride. This means starting and finishing your run with the same protective support.

Aiding the restorative midsole, a carbon-fiber reinforced, two-piece AdaptTruss lends both incredible stability and amazing flexibility. This helps to reduce the impact of medial forces on the foot so the MetaRun will flex safely but become rigid if the foot rolls in too much. Almost like a coach, but without the yelling.

Asics also equipped MetaRun with a new x-shaped construction of the external clutch counter, that wraps the inside and outside of your ankle bone. Thanks to a memory foam lining, the MetaRun delivers a personalized heel fit to boot.

Tailoring to the runner goes a little farther, as a new one-layer engineered mesh minimizes rubbing between the foot and the upper to create a snug, glove-like fit. A combination of closed and open weave patterns optimizes flexibility and breathability.

And what would an Asics performance shoe be without the Gel? Asics Gel now has more efficient shapes and precision positioning, while the latest X-Gel finds its home on the MetaRun, boosting shock absorption.

A look at the super-modern creation of the MetaRun is the theme of its new video campaign, which makes us forget we’re talking about a shoe and not a rocket.
