Aquamira Technologies Inc. of Logan, Utah has agreed to purchase the assets of Geigerrig’s pressurized hydration systems and packs, formerly owned by Hub City Outdoor.
As the exclusive manufacturer of the inline filters featured in Geigerrig hydration systems since 2010, Aquamira has a longstanding interest in the quality and performance of Geigerrig hydration products. The intent to purchase assets reflects our confidence in the strength of the Geigerrig brand and customer base and our belief that Aquamira is well positioned to expand the market presence for pressurized hydration, adventure packs, and personal water filtration.
“The path to purchasing the Geigerrig assets wasn’t on our strategic horizon”, says Aquamira Technologies CEO Gary Cruikshank, “However, the opportunity to combine our filtration technology with a great brand warranted serious consideration. Since the moment we learned about the challenges facing Hub City Outdoor in early April, we’ve been working diligently to find a path to carry forward the Geigerrig legacy. The combination of our filtration technology and the Geigerrig line of award winning packs offers our customers unbeatable performance in our industry.”
Curt Geiger, former president of Hub City Outdoors also commented. “After surviving and ultimately prevailing over a litigation battle involving intellectual property rights, our capacity to maintain operations, innovate, and provide quality customer care was greatly reduced. Phones were still ringing, customers wanted to restock inventory, and consumers wanted service but we were unable to properly invest and rebuild. In short, the Geigerrig hydration line hailed as the most innovative offering in recent hydration pack history was at risk.”
Ultimately, an agreement to purchase assets was formalized. And now, Aquamira intends to leverage its operational efficiencies and superior filtration engineering capabilities to accelerate the growth of pressurized hydration and personal, plug-n-play, inline water filtration to its previous near-vertical trajectory.
The line of Geigerrig hydration engines and packs will be exclusively offered to its customers by Aquamira Technologies from this point forward. Bob Geiger, Geigerrig cofounder, will join the Aquamira team as Geigerrig product manager. Curt Geiger will support sales as consultant.
We would like to assure customers and partners that Geigerrig products will be available and supported and we will be working closely with staff to improve all business operations. CEO Gary Cruikshank concludes, “To our new partners and our old friends – we look forward to serving you. We are committed to timely communications and quality customer service during this exciting transition.”
