VF Corp. announced the appointment of Denny Bruce, who was most recently EVP of sales, product and marketing at Traeger Pellet Grills, to the position of global brand president, Dickies. Philip Williamson, former CEO of Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co., will move into a non-operating brand ambassador role.

Lids To Increase Focus On Fashion Caps

In an interview with the New York Post, Lids’ CEO Tom Ripley said the retailer plans to reduce its mix of caps tied to professional and collegiate teams to half of sales from 75 percent within two years in favor of fashionable headwear.

Nike’s Earnings Slide In Fourth Quarter

Nike Inc. reported earnings fell 13.0 percent in the fourth quarter ended May 3 as increased marketing costs, currency headwinds and a higher tax rate offset improving sales and gross margins. Earnings were 4 cents below Wall Street’s average estimate. Revenues rose 4.0 percent, slightly ahead of targets, and would have been up 10 percent on a currency-neutral basis, led by China.

Under Armour Partners With South County Trojans Elite Youth Football

The board of directors of South County Trojans Elite Youth Football, based in Mission Viejo, CA, announced that the organization has established a partnership with Under Armour.  Members of all seven Trojans’ divisions will be outfitted with the brand’s Armourfuse jerseys, game pants and practice apparel. 

New Balance Advances Plan For Sixth New England Factory

New Balance has secured tax breaks to support the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Methuen. According to The Boston Globe, the state Economic Assistance Coordinating Council approved $900,000 in state tax credits to help subsidize the $33 million project, and the city is pitching in with $272,000 in property tax breaks.
