Boston Web Design helped with the re-design for the Appalachian Mountain Club website — www.outdoors.org, America's oldest nonprofit conservation and outdoor recreation organization.

The Appalachian Mountain Club required a re-designed website to serve as a comprehensive resource to promote outdoor activities and programs to club members, plus provide beneficial information to attract new members. The new website allows visitors to learn about AMC sponsored trips, sign up for outdoor educational programs, check rates and availability for AMC’s mountain huts and lodges, and purchase items online such as apparel, books, and maps. Visitors are also encouraged to make donations which support AMC's ongoing work including trail maintenance, land and river conservation, and outdoor education programs.

“Boston Web Design has been a great partner in developing the new Appalachian Mountain Club website,” said Kevin Breunig, Director of Communications for the Appalachian Mountain Club. “With so many different audiences seeking information on a wide variety of outdoor programs, membership and lodging, the Boston Web Design team helped us figure out how to present a lot of information in an easy-to-find way. The end result is a new website that allows different users to easily locate the information that is most important to them while promoting the three components of AMC’s mission: conservation, education, and recreation.”

“The design challenge with the Appalachian Mountain Club website was to balance mission-driven site content with portal functionality while at the same time visually defining AMC in a clean and organized manner,” said Chuck Murphy, President of Boston Web Design. “What we’ve created is a user-friendly system for members and nonmembers to plan trips and obtain other outdoor information.”
