American Skiing Company has named Stan Hansen to the position of Senior Vice President of Real Estate. Hansen, currently President and Managing Director of the company's Mount Snow resort in Vermont, will have the responsibility for the planning and execution of the real estate strategies for the company's eight resorts and report directly to President and CEO B.J. Fair.
“American Skiing Company has tremendous real estate assets at its eight resorts. Key to our future success will be thoughtful integration of real estate development and resort operations,” said Fair. “Stan's proven real estate and management experience within the ski industry make him uniquely qualified for this critical position. His 39 years in the resort industry give him unparalleled resort management and real estate development experience and have made him one of the most respected individuals in our industry.”
“As American Skiing Company moves forward, Stan will play a vital role in the planning and development of our properties,” continued Fair. “We expect Stan to bring together the right mix of investors, joint venture partners, and developers to maximize the potential of our real estate assets.”
“I'm very excited about the opportunity to be able to work side by side with the resort management teams in planning and developing long range plans for our various resort communities. Each one of our resorts has its own unique character, and it is our job to maximize their collective potential without losing the uniqueness of the individual resorts,” commented Hansen.
In his new role, Hansen will oversee all aspects of real estate development across all resorts including the real estate projects he has started at Mount Snow.
Hansen joined American Skiing Company upon the Company's acquisition of California's Heavenly ski resort in 1997. As Senior Vice President of American Skiing Company Resort Properties, Hansen was a key player in planning the South Lake Tahoe Redevelopment Project, which included two Marriott hotels, 200,000 square feet of retail space and a gondola from the town to the Heavenly Ski Resort. Prior to his role with American Skiing Company, Hansen was Vice President of Planning and Governmental Affairs for Heavenly, working with state and federal agencies, community leaders and environmental groups.
Hansen and his family will relocate to the Company's headquarters in Park City, Utah. He will remain at Mount Snow for a transition period until his successor has been determined. A search is underway for his replacement at Mount Snow.
