Mavic Inc. will relocate from Haverhill, MA to Ogden, UT next summer to fully integrate with Amer Sports Winter and Outdoor (AWSO) Americas.
The move, which will consummate an integration started in July, will be completed by the end of 2015. Mavic and AWSO will begin implementing a detailed transition plan next month to ensure minimal disruption in service to dealers and customers.
Mavic designs, manufacturers and distributes premium bicycling products, including wheels, tires, rims, pedals, helmets, apparel and footwear. Mavic generated sales of €102.5 million in the third quarter ended Sept. 30, up 5 percent from the same period in 2013. That made it the fourth smallest of AWSO’s five businesses after Winter Sports Equipment, Footwear and Apparel. AWSO’s smallest business is Instruments. In addition to Mavic, AWSO’s brand portfolio includes Arcteryx, Atomic, Salomon and Suunto.
Chad Moore, Mavic marketing director for the United States, said relocating to Ogden will enhance Mavic’s ability to serve U.S. dealers both before and after the sale.
“This will allow us to put more effort into what has made Mavic an iconic and trusted brand-dealer support, product development, consumer events and ultimately, getting out there with our fans,” said Moore. “We celebrated 125 years this year and we are looking forward to some excitement in 2015 and beyond.
