Amazon’s annual Prime Day sales event is scheduled for July 8 through July 11, expanding from two to four days compared to last year. The event is exclusive to Prime members.

“We’re extending it to four days because our members have told us they just need more time to shop the deals,” Jamil Ghani, Amazon VP of worldwide prime, told Reuters.

U.S. shoppers spent $14.2 billion on Prime Day last year (July 16-17, 2024), up 11 percent year-over-year, according to Adobe Analytics. Walmart, Target, and other retailers, as well as social platforms like TikTok Shop, have been running competing events around Prime Day in recent years.

The first Prime Day event began in 2015 with the goal of increasing Prime membership.

In its statement, Amazon promised “big deals and huge savings across more than 35 categories” during the upcoming four-day Prime Day event while also offering access to several early deals, including 30 percent off many of Amazon’s own household and fashion brands, as well as savings from independent sellers on the platform.
