Ahnu Shoes, the San Francisco-based company rooted in outdoor performance and influenced by an urban lifestyle, has joined Grassroots Outdoor Alliance (Grassroots) as a vendor partner.

Ahnu was founded in 2006 by industry friends Jim and Jacqueline Van Dine and Jenny Fredericks, who were looking to create a brand and company that reflected their entrepreneurial spirit, desire to give back, and enthusiasm towards outdoor recreation, which they believe is best shared with friends and family. Ahnu's products blur the lines between performance and fashion for a go-anywhere attitude balanced with a responsibility towards environmental and social efforts are at the heart of every Ahnu product.

One of the basic foundations of Grassroots is a desire to be part of your local community and give back – either through environmental or social programs. A big part of starting Ahnu was to create a business model that allowed the company to act as responsible citizens and to give back by partnering with like-minded organizations. They believe that by working together they can achieve great things that truly make a difference in people's lives. Ahnu has contributed more than $250,000 to charitable organizations since their founding in 2007.

With this type of business attitude, Ahnu is a perfect fit for Grassroots.

“Ahnu is a wonderful footwear brand and partner for Champaign Surplus. Our customers love the quality, comfort and style of their products – and we have been very impressed with the collaborative and energetic support they have provided our store and the outdoor specialty channel,” said Shira Epstein, co-owner of Champaign Surplus and a retail member of Grassroots. “We're thrilled that Ahnu will be joining Grassroots Outdoor Alliance as a vendor partner. “

Ahnu will be exhibiting at the Fall Grassroots Summit in Knoxville, TN from Nov. 18-21, 2013.
