Ahnu Footwear, a division of Deckers Outdoor Corp., has pledged $10,000 to the Breast Cancer Fund and its work to eliminate the environmental causes of the disease.

Ahnu Footwear will provide direct support for the Breast Cancer Fund and its initiatives through its unique partnership with the Plus 3 Network (www.plus3.com).

Founded in 1992, the Breast Cancer Fund is the leading national organization focused on eliminating the environmental risks, including toxic chemicals and radiation, associated with breast cancer. Through public education, policy initiatives, outdoor challenges and other innovative campaigns, the Breast Cancer Fund mobilizes the public to secure the changes needed to stop this disease before it starts.

“Supporting and promoting the Breast Cancer Fund is a natural fit for Ahnu, for our products, and for our community,” said Jacqueline Lenox, Brand Director of Ahnu Footwear. “Since opening our doors in 2007, Ahnu has been a leader in environmentally friendly and socially responsible practices – such as the use of hemp, recycled rubber and charred bamboo – as well as in encouraging people to live healthy, active lifestyles.”

No more than 1 in 10 women with breast cancer has a genetic history of the disease and a growing body of scientific evidence points to toxic chemicals and radiation as factors contributing to the high rates of breast cancer.

“The partnership with Ahnu Footwear is a wonderful addition to our efforts to prevent breast cancer,” said Julie Homan, cause marketing manager at the Breast Cancer Fund. “We are delighted to receive Ahnu’s support through Plus 3, and we applaud the company’s leadership in creating organic and eco-friendly products to reduce the impact of toxic chemicals on both our environment and our health.”

The Plus 3 Network is a social network connecting corporate sponsors and nonprofits through personal fitness pledges. At any time during the year, Plus 3 Network members who select Ahnu Footwear as their “sponsor” will help support the Breast Cancer Fund. Donations are given every time a “member” completes and logs an outdoor or fitness activity. Registering with Plus 3 is a free online process that can be done at www.plus3network.com.
