Adventure Medical Kits will donate 12 Backcountry Easy Care first aid kits to the Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation (ALCF). Dedicated to preserving Alex Lowes legacy, the ALCF supports sustainable, community-based humanitarian programs designed to help people living in remote regions of the world. AMKs first aid kits and supplies will be put to good use in the ALCFs Sherpa Climbing School Project, wherein volunteer instructors (including Conrad Anker, Pete Athens, Jimmy Chin, Dr. Steve Gipe, Jon Krakauer and Jake Norton) will teach the Sherpa rope handling skills & knot work, glacier travel, crevasse rescue, climbing technique (ascending, descending & traversing), camp hygiene, weather preparedness and basic first aid.
AMK selected the Backcountry for the Sherpa Climbing School because the kits include state of the art medical essentials specific to those injuries most commonly sustained in the mountains. Additionally, the kits feature Easy Care instruction cards translated into Nepali, which will assist in teaching basic first aid skills to the Sherpa.
Anker, who has been involved with the ALCF since it began in 1999, believes that AMKs Backcountry kits will greatly benefit the Sherpa Climbing School. “Our goal is to help the Sherpa people become better guides.
