Crailar Technologies, which is developing fibers from renewable fibers such as flax, said Adidas Group America CFO Klaus Frock joined its board of directors effective June 23.
Flock is an 18-year veteran with Adidas Group AG, where he has held numerous executive level positions for the company throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Upon returning from Indonesia in 2006, where he was managing director of Adidas Indonesia, he was appointed CFO of TaylorMade-Adidas Golf until late 2011. Since that time, he has held the position of CFO for Adidas Group America, based in Portland, OR. Flock is a graduate of the Universit Stuttgart where he earned a degree in accounting and finance.
Crailar, which is based in Canada, is attempting to commercialize the production of natural fibers from flax, hemp and other plants that can be used to make a garment that is as soft and durable as cotton, but requires much less water and pesticides to cultivate. The company raised millions of dollars in capital from Adidas and Swedish retailer Ikea in 2013, began shipping product to partners this year and is now bringing its own factory online in Europe.
