Adidas filed a lawsuit against LIV Golf, the Saudi Arabian professional golf league, whose CEO is Greg Norman, the former pro golfer, for trademark infringement.

Adidas’ suit charges that the ‘L’ in the LIV logo (the Roman numerals for 54, the score a player would receive if they birdied every hole on a par-72 course and the number of holes played at LIV events) looks too similar to the brand’s ‘three stripes’ logo.

Adidas filed a Notice of Opposition with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office claiming the LIV Golf logo “incorporate[s] three stripes in a manner that is confusingly similar to the Adidas Marks in appearance and overall commercial impression.”

The lawsuit seeks to block five trademark applications by LIV Golf.
