Adidas announced a multiyear partnership with 2017-18 Calder Trophy (Rookie of the Year) finalist, Mathew Barzal of the New York Islanders.
The Islanders’ center led all rookies with 22-63-85 (82 GP), which was 20 points more than next-closest player. With the new partnership, Barzal will be featured in a variety of Adidas marketing campaigns and collaborate on the design of future Adidas Hockey and Adidas Training products.

The 21-year-old phenom grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia and recently represented Team Canada in the 2018 World Championships. The 16th overall selection in the 2015 NHL Draft, Barzal was named the MVP of the WHL playoffs in 2017 after finishing with 25 points (seven goals, 18 assists) in 16 games, helping Seattle win the league championship for the first time. He was also the WHL’s Western Conference Player of the Year after finishing with 79 points (10 goals, 69 assists) in 41 regular-season games.

Barzal joins the Adidas Hockey roster that includes Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Connor McDavid of Edmonton Oilers, Tyler Seguin of the Dallas Stars, Patrice Bergeron of the Boston Bruins, P.K. Subban of the Nashville Predators and Brent Burns of the San Jose Sharks.
