adidas-Salomon and the INTERSPORT International Corporation (IIC) announced Tuesday the signing of a four-year strategic agreement that lays a strong foundation for future business strategies and strengthens the selling and distribution process of both groups. Both companies have agreed to keep the financial terms confidential.
This agreement will help increase sales of a) adidas Sport Performance categories such as football, running and swimwear, b) casual and leisure adidas product categories and c) Salomon products like alpine skis, boots, inline skates and footwear. As such it will strengthen INTERSPORTs position as an authentic professional multisport retailer. A dedicated adidas and Salomon account management team will act as a single point of contact to IIC, adidas will offer a customized European product range and joint international marketing and event cooperation will take place.
This introduces a new stage in our cooperation with the INTERSPORT Group, said Roland Auschel, Head of Region Europe for adidas. It reflects our shared ambition to drive our business further, not only specifying strategic intentions, but also addressing the implementation and working together as a team.
Consumers, purchasing behavior, markets, products and competitors are permanently changing and the business is globalizing. The INTERSPORT Group lives up to this challenge through its cooperation with the world’s leading suppliers such as adidas and Salomon. The new four-year strategic cooperation agreement is thus the next logical step in a partnership successful on an international as well as a national level, commented Franz Julen, CEO of IIC.
The new cooperation and business model will facilitate the coordination between the two groups both at the national and international level, allowing an integrated European business development in terms of product categories, marketing concepts and geographic markets.
