Academy Sports + Outdoors, Inc. announced plans to open its first two stores in Greater Indianapolis this fall in Westfield-Carmel and Avon.
The approximately 75,000-square-foot Westfield-Carmel store will be Academy’s fifth in Indiana, while the approximately 60,000-square-foot Avon store will be the retailer’s sixth in the state. The two stores will support a combined 120 new jobs.
Academy opened a new location in Lafayette, IN earlier in 2023 and plans to expand further by opening 13 to 15 stores by the end of the year for 120 to 140 new stores by the end of 2027. Academy has 269 stores open in 18 states.
Timed with its expansion into Indianapolis, Academy signed a multi-year partnership with the Indianapolis Colts, whereby the two organizations will collaborate on community events, social media and digital content to “enhance both the fan and customer experience.”
