The American Alpine Club, the country’s oldest member organization for climbers and mountaineers, in partnership with The North Face, is offering 2018 Live Your Dream grants, open to climbers of all ages, experience levels and climbing disciplines. Interested individuals have until March 31, 2018 to submit an application online, outlining an ambitious but achievable personal climbing objective.

Since 2012, the American Alpine Club, together with the The North Face, have awarded nearly 400 everyday adventures with over $200,000 in funding to support climbers of all abilities looking to improve their skills and experience life-changing adventure. This year, the AAC and The North Face will give away $70,000 in grant money, ranging from $200-$1000 per individual. An application fee of $5 for members of the AAC and $20 for non-members is required, and AAC membership is required only if the grant application is awarded.

Matthew Brikebak, a 2017 Live Your Dream grant recipient, used his grant money to climb three iconic North American peaks all in the same year: The Grand Teton, South Howser Tower and Mt. Rainier. Reflecting the experience, Matthew says, “The Live Your Dream Grant allowed me to take on climbing objectives that were much larger in scale and more difficult than any of my previous experiences. The grant inspired me to push my limits in climbing, and I found I was greatly rewarded with profound and amazing experiences.”

The Live Your Dream grant is designed for inclusivity—from bouldering to big walls, alpinism to ski mountaineering, peak bagging to bolt clipping and everything in between. What’s most important is to demonstrate personal progression, be it transitioning out of the gym or establishing a first ascent in the greater ranges, the purpose of this grant is to support and promote unforgettable experiences for those who love climbing.
