Osprey launched a new custom molded hip-belt program at OR Summer Market this past year which is very similar to the custom molded ski boots available at many snowsports specialty retailers. The program requires Osprey dealers to purchase a specially designed oven that heats the hip-belt and allows customers to thermo-form the foam to the shape of his/her hips.
BOSS spoke with Sam Mix in the product and marketing department at Osprey, who said that out of the 275 ship-to dealers carrying the Osprey brand, 235 have ordered the ovens.
“75% placement means we are off to a roaring start with this program, and with the excitement that is being generated we can only hope for even better placement and greater acceptance of the program in the future,” said Mix.
