West Marine reported that net sales for the four weeks ended October 30, 2004 were $37.2 million, a 1.2% increase compared to net sales of $36.7 million for October last year. Comparable store net sales for October 2004 decreased 1.3% compared to the same period a year ago.
Net sales for the forty-three weeks ended October 30, 2004 were $602.1 million, an increase of 5.1% over net sales of $572.8 million for the same period a year ago. Comparable store net sales for the latest forty-three weeks increased 0.9% compared to the same period a year ago.
John Edmondson, CEO of West Marine, said, “October sales were consistent with our previous guidance of flat to -2%. October comparable store sales by region were as follows: Western -7.1%, Northeast -3.1% and Southeast 4.0%.”
