Whistle Sports, a sports media company, hired J LaLonde as its new vice president of content. LaLonde will oversee the company’s multi-platform content development, production and programming worldwide.
LaLonde will work directly with the company’s league and creator partners to focus on developing and producing content for Whistle Sports across all social platforms as well as linear and OTT platforms. The role was created to help the company accelerate its growth across all platforms and to amplify the Whistle Sports brand voice globally.
LaLonde has worked in the content business for over 15 years across sports, comedy, radio, TV and film. His expertise includes building and acquiring content that can thrive in the rapidly changing media landscape.
“Whistle Sports provides incredible access to athletes and leagues, coupled with a wide variety of channels through which to tell stories. At Whistle Sports, we’re just as big of fans of the games and sports we’re telling stories about as our audience, so we can have real conversations with them, as opposed to broadcasting at them or to them. Working with this incredible team will enable me to satiate sports fan’s appetites for fun, innovative content,” said LaLonde.
Prior to joining Whistle Sports, LaLonde served as an executive producer of original programming and development for Mashable Studios, where he used data within the development and storytelling process to help Mashable build partnerships with Turner, NBCU and Nat Geo Wild.
LaLonde will be reporting to Jeff Urban, Whistle Sports’ president.
“As our platform continues to grow and the interests of our fans become more diverse, Whistle Sports must be on the cutting edge with its programming,” said Urban. “J brings a fresh perspective to our creative process and will help insure we remain a leader in the sports media space.”
