In a move to expand DCs video production department, DC Shoes, Inc. has added Kirk Dianda as Producer/Director of DC Films. In his new role, Kirk will be responsible for directing, producing, filming and editing a variety of DC video projects under Greg Hunt, who was recently promoted to Creative Director of DC Films.
“I see this as an exciting step forward for DC Films,” said DC President Ken Block. “It has been amazing watching what Greg has accomplished at DC over the past three years and Im proud of how he has built our video department. I have also known Kirk for years and am a fan of his work. I honestly dont think Greg could have picked a better person to compliment what he does. Kirk is great to work with and I am looking forward to more great projects from this department.”
Prior to his working with DC, Kirk Dianda was the Creative Director at 411 Productions, where he served for nine years, and was “the motor” behind On Video, according to former 411 owner Steve Douglas. While working for ON Video, Kirk immortalized skateboarders histories and personalities, extending beyond the usual tricks on screen. In 2000, he also produced one of the most talked about ON Video segments, Danny Way: Living Legend. Kirk currently lives in Philadelphia.
“I have always admired DC and how the company touches so many people through its productions,” said Kirk. “I have worked with Ken and Greg on numerous projects and honestly I am in disbelief that I get to work with them on a daily basis. I am psyched to get started and really help the film department grow.”
In related company moves, Greg Hunt has been promoted to Creative Director of DC Films. In addition to producing, directing and editing The DC Video & The Deluxe Edition DVD, Greg Hunt has been directing, filming and editing all DC commercials and national TV spots for the past three years. These spots have included Josh Kalis “Verdict,” Stevie Williams “The Reason” and Danny Ways “Aerotech.” Greg also oversees all web video and promotional video projects.
Greg had this to say about Kirk joining the company: “Ive been looking for someone to help in the department for a while and Kirk is perfect. His skill in documentation and storytelling will totally complement everything we do. Theres a ton of opportunity for him to produce some cool projects, plus having him here will enable me to focus more on skate video production. Kirks a good guy and Im stoked to have him around.”
