Backcountry.com has decided to enter the distressed merchandise market and has launched a new site called Backcountryoutlet.com. The company says that the new site will offer the same services and experience that backcountry.com offers while offering overstock merchandise at discounted prices. The new site will prominently display the model year and why the product has landed in the overstock channel.
The company said that their goal was to, “provide customers the best prices on overstock of premium outdoor gear, while giving gear manufacturers a professional, well-respected channel to release overstock items through.”
“Brands on BackcountryOutlet.com will not be sold next to 15-year-old hound's-tooth Jackets or patio furniture,” said Dustin Robertson, Backcountry.coms director of marketing. “We will fully leverage our experience and reputation as the premium outdoor adventure gear retailer to support our manufacturers investment in their brands.”
