Brooks Running Company’s Brooks Beast athlete Nick Symmonds will retire from track & field after his 2017 season. The two-time Olympian has been a member of the Brooks athlete team since 2014.
“Nick is nothing if not a fighter, and we know that when he is on that starting line, he can do amazing things. We believe 2017 will be no exception,” said Brooks Senior Sports Marketing Manager Jesse Williams. “He’s a flag bearer for our sport and he’s an inspiration for countless runners.”
Most recently Symmonds, who is also the founder of energy gum brand Run Gum, was in the headlines for engaging in a federal antitrust lawsuit with U.S. Track & Field. Symmonds has been quite vocal about his disdain of current endorsement rules for U.S. Track & Field athletes, displaying opposition at such events as the Time Trials leading up to the Olympics.
