Nike has given Elena Delle Donne her first signature shoe.
The star of the Chicago Sky’s Nike Hyperdunk 2016 PE features a predominantly white upper with hits of green glow. Fifteen symbols on the silhouette of the heel and tongue represent the highs and lows of her life. An “I Love You” symbol in sign language on the tongue honors her older sister, Lizzie, who is blind and has special needs.
On top of the heel is written, “Path Less Traveled,” a mantra for Delle Donne.
In 1996, Sheryl Swoopes became the first WNBA player to get a Nike signature sneaker with the Air Swoopes model. Other WNBA players who have received signature shoes include Cynthia Cooper, Lisa Leslie, Dawn Staley and Chamique Holdsclaw.
