Rocky Brands Inc. stated that Mike Brooks, chairman of the board of directors and interim chief executive officer, has been named chief executive officer of the company.

He had been serving as the company’s interim chief executive officer since September 8, 2016, following the resignation of David Sharp as president and chief executive officer. The company’s board of directors has therefore suspended its previously announced search for a new chief executive officer.

Brooks stated, “Since coming back to serve as interim chief executive officer in early September, I have been reenergized by the skills and devotion of our associates to design, manufacture and deliver quality footwear to our customers. As we bring a close to what has been a difficult year, I believe that we are laying the groundwork for improved performance in 2017 and beyond and I look forward to working with the entire Rocky Brands team in 2017.”

Brooks previously served as chief executive officer of the company from August 1991 to July 2011 before being named interim chief executive officer on September 8, 2016, and has served as chairman of the board of directors since August 1991.

Rocky Brands Inc.’s footwear portfolio includes Rocky, Georgia Boot, Durango, Lehigh, Creative Recreation, and the licensed brand Michelin.
