SCOTT USA has hired Reed Pike as Sales Manager for the Colorado, Minnesota and Ohio territories. With over 30 years experience Reed got his start in the cycling industry working retail in the San Francisco Bay area. After working for Schwinn as a sales representative in Southern California, Reed held a variety of senior management positions at Specialized and RockShox. He was the first Chairman of the ASTM committee for bicycles and bicycle accessories, a member of the BPSA Board of Directors and the BPSA Safety Committee Chairman. He has worked as a consultant for a number of companies in the cycling industry. For the last fourteen months Reed has worked at Criterium Bicycles in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

“It was great fun and an important learning experience to get back to my roots working retail this past year. I feel very close to the challenges and perspective of the specialty retailer. After viewing the 2005 Scott product line, I am certain that the success the company has achieved in Europe will quickly take root here in the United States. It is exciting to be a part of a growing company again”, said Reed. Kay Caunt, Co-owner of Criterium commented, “Reed’s time at Criterium has been a huge energy boost for us! He has paced us for the new tempo of innovation in the business, and we are looking forward to the Scott products that he will soon bring to the U.S.”

Scott Montgomery said, “I am completely thrilled and flattered that we are able to bring into our organization a person with the scope, experience and vision that Reed has. He will be an outstanding asset to the company in numerous areas. Scott bicycles has the critical elements for success; outstanding products, a rock solid balance sheet, and now the final piece to the puzzle, smart, experienced and dedicated cycling staff.”

Reed’s long tenure in the industry, his knowledge and skills coupled with his recent retail experience will be key assets to the Scott USA dealer network and sales team. Reed continues to ride his bicycle 100-150 miles per week and will formally start with Scott USA June 21, 2004. That week he will be traveling to Switzerland with other sales personnel to review the 2005 product line and complete finishing touches to the 2005 product and pricing strategy.
