Sports brand Helly Hansen has for many years integrated RECCO reflectors in all of its ski apparel. As a new partner to the Swedish alpine ski team, the members will therefore now be equipped with RECCO reflectors and be searchable in case of an avalanche accident.
Helly Hansen’s newly announced partnership with the Swedish alpine ski team starts with junior and Europe Cup racers, followed by the woman’s elite team next winter and the entire Ski Team Sweden Alpine 2018/19.
“Skiing is part of Helly Hansen’s DNA and we’re honored to partner with Ski Team Sweden Alpine and to support the athletes to achieve their goals. We are proud to offer RECCO reflectors in all of Helly Hansen’s ski collection, and in this way make every athlete searchable on the mountain,” said Philip Tavell, category managing director, Helly Hansen.
More than 800 ski resorts, mountain rescue teams and helicopter bases around the world use the RECCO Advanced Rescue Technology. It consists of two parts: a reflector and a detector. The reflector is integrated in sports apparel and equipment. The detector is used by professional rescuers to search for reflectors that can make for quicker location of buried avalanche victims. The RECCO reflector does not need a battery, it’s always “on” and has an unlimited lifetime.
“These are extremely talented skiers who spend hundreds of days on the slopes and in the mountains. We believe that all skiers should have the awareness and be searchable in case of an avalanche accident,” says Johan Sauer, vice president RECCO AB.
