Fashion designer Richard Nicoll, who was preparing to take the position of Creative Director at Adidas come January 2017, passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2016.
Nicoll is widely known in the high-fashion world for his famous 2014 LED dress that premiered at London Fashion Week along with high-profile collaborations with Top Shop, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton, and several celebrities have worn his signature pieces.
Adidas issued a statement following the news of Nicoll’s passing, saying, “Adidas is deeply saddened to hear the terrible news about Richard Nicoll. He was an incredibly talented individual, and we felt honored that he would be joining our team in January. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”
