Uvex Sports Group, the German eyewear and helmet brand celebrating its 90th anniversary, has established its North American headquarters in Massachusetts.

Uvex, which is an acronym for “ultraviolet excluded,” was founded in Germany in 1926, when it helped create the modern ski goggle by sewing a pair of plastic lenses together by hand with strips of soft fabric to ensure utmost comfort. Fast forward 90 years, and Uvex has amassed a list of industry firsts that have set the bar for innovation and safety in snow and cycling eyewear and helmets. Starting with the first-ever anti-fog ski goggles, followed most recently with goggles and sunglasses that automatically change lens tint via liquid crystal lens technology, Uvex’s 90 years of experience in the eyewear industry is unparalleled.
Today Uvex offers seamless helmet-goggle integration, the world’s first auto-fitting helmet with Octo+ fit technology, and the first ever multi-sport mountaineering helmet certified in the US and EU for skiing and climbing. UVEX Winter Holding GmbH & Co. KG joins three internationally active UVEX corporations under one roof: the Uvex Safety Group, the Uvex Sports Group (uvex sports and Alpina) and Filtral. The Uvex Group is represented in 20 countries with 47 subsidiaries and has its main production in Germany, where roughly two thirds of its approximately 2,120 employees work.
