Upland Sports Group has signed an exclusive partnership with Italian shoe manufacturer DMT to distribute their full line of cycling shoes to the US marketplace.
DMT, based in Verona, Italy, is a leading manufacturer of technical cycling footwear for the Road, Triathlon, and MTB markets. DMT has a strong heritage within the cycling industry and is well respected as one of the true product innovators of the sport. In 2001, DMT introduced the Ultimax Road Shoe featuring an integrated, one-piece heel cup and full carbon sole for increased stability and maximum power transfer. This unique technology was also utilized in developing the Ultimax RSX MTB. The Virtus Triathlon Shoe addresses the specific needs required by triathletes including a single 40mm Velcro closure at an average weight of 275 grams.
“The partnership with DMT will allow Upland Sports Group to provide our clients with the most technically advanced cycling shoes the market has to offer. In addition, DMT will expand our reach into growth markets such as Road and Triathlon,” said Gary Vasconi, President of Upland Sports Group.
In addition to their broad market offering, the DMT name is well recognized throughout the world as a proven product. In 2003, DMT shoes were worn by many of the top riders in the pro peloton such as Jan Ullrich, Alessandro Petacchi, and Axel Merckx.
“We consider DMT to be a tier one manufacturer within the cycling industry with tremendous market upside in the US. Upland Sports Group is very excited at the opportunity to represent a company of this stature with such a strong brand name worldwide,” said Rob Carbone, VP Marketing of Upland Sports Group.
For 2004, Upland Sports Group will distribute the full line of DMT Road, Triathlon, and MTB shoes with an emphasis on the Ultimax RSX Road, RS3 Road, Virtus Triathlon, and the Ultimax RSX MTB.
