Callaway Golf Company (NYSE: ELY), an industry leader in innovative golf equipment and technology, congratulated Staff Professional Henrik Stenson for winning The Open at Royal Troon in Scotland, and becoming Champion Golfer Of The Year.
Carding a 63 on Sunday, which included 10 birdies, Stenson tied the lowest final round score in major championship history.
By carding a cumulative score of 264 over the week (with rounds of 68-65-68-63), Stenson set the record for lowest cumulative score ever in a major championship.
Stenson played the final round with fellow Callaway staff member Phil Mickelson; the two dueled dramatically while separating themselves from the rest of the championship field. Stenson and Mickelson were 11 shots clear of the nearest competitor.
