Under Armour has partnered with Aston Villa F.C. Beginning with this season’s “Fight Like Lions’” campaign, Under Armour is joining forces with the proud and historic Aston Villa F.C. through 2021. The Club’s new home and away kits, in addition to training wear, are also unveiled for the 2016-17 season today.
The kit will be worn by the Club’s players for the first time in the opening Sky Bet Championship fixture of the season against Sheffield on Sunday, August 7, as well as during Aston Villa’s pre-season Tour. Features include the Club’s new crest, alongside a back neck label that showcases the Club’s core values – Pride, Passion, Purpose – as the two forces combine to elevate the Club back to their historical best.
“We are proud to partner with such a prestigious club as Aston Villa F.C., and our new partnership with the Midlands Club marks the start of an exciting period for the both of us,” said Peter Murray, VP Global Sports Marketing at Under Armour. “As we collectively strive towards future success for the Club, we’re arming them to truly ‘Fight Like Lions’ on the journey ahead. We are confident and passionate about Aston Villa F.C. at an important time for the Club.”
“We are delighted to have signed a long-term deal with such an innovative brand as Under Armour,” said Keith Wyness, CEO at Aston Villa F.C. “As a Club, we share similar ambitions as Under Armour and will, therefore, be able to pull together to get us back to the top tier of English football, where we belong.”
As with all Under Armour football teamwear, the new kit is made of HeatGear® material. Weighing just 107 grams and containing the brand’s quick-drying technology alongside Under Armour’s signature Moisture Transport System, moisture is wicked away from the body ensuring that players always stay dry. Lightweight fabric with built-in four-way stretch improves mobility and accelerates dry time, while strategic ventilation built into the shirt at key points where the body most commonly releases heat allows for optimum coolness, even in the harshest weather conditions.
As part of Aston Villa’s partnership with Under Armour, the Club’s 2016-2017 home and away kit and training range will be available to purchase beginning today at Aston Villa Shops and the Club’s official website. The kit will also be available to purchase from Under Armour’s website and selected retailers beginning July 6.
