TomTom reported that its Consumer products revenue, excluding automotive hardware, increased by 5 percent to €146.0 million in the third quarter ended Sept. 30 compared with the same period in 2014.

The Netherlands-based company said the growth was driven in part by the launch of Spark, a new generation of sports and fitness watches that
integrate a music player, built-in heart rate monitor, 24/7 activity
tracking, multi-sport functionality and GPS.

TomTom was offering the fully loaded version of the Spark shown to the right on its web site for $249 Tuesday. A GPS only version of the watch and a GPS with music version of the Spark without the HRM were advertised as coming soon at $149 and $199 respectively.

Sales of PND (personal navigation device) and
niche categories in the drive segment also grew.

The average sales price at TomTom's Consumer unit, which also includes
some aftermarket automotive products, also strengthened as product mix
in the quarter skewed towards higher priced models.

TomTom reported overall PND unit sales declined 8 percent in Europe and 20 percent in North America during the quarter, but that its market share in both Europe and North America increased year on year.

TomTom's consumer products include PNDs, navigation apps, sports watches and action cameras.

TomTom reported total sales reached €254.2 million in the third quarter, up 8 percent over the same period in 2014. Gross and EBITDA margin each fell 400 basis points to 53 and 13 percent respectively. The year on year decrease was mainly due to the weakening of the euro against the U.S. dollar, partially offset by a relatively higher share of Content & Services revenue. At constant currency rates for the US dollar and GB pound, our Q3 '15 gross margin and operating result would have been higher.

Earnings declined 70 percent to €1.7 million, or €0.01 per fully diluted share, compared with €0.03 in the third quarter of 2014.

The Amsterdam-based company reiterated its guidance for revenue and adjusted EPS for 2015. It  expects revenue to grow to around €1 billion, and adjusted EPS to around €0.20.
